Friday Favorites–Free Sewing Patterns

The internet is busting at the seams with free sewing patterns.  Since I talked about SewSet earlier this week, I thought it would be a good time to show you some of my other favorite places to look when I’m looking for a sewing project.

Many fabric and pattern manufacturers and designers have a section of free patterns on their website.  I found this on McCalls a while back, but I can’t find the link to it from their main page now.  It still works though – just enter an email address in the box and all the patterns turn into downloadable PDFs.  I don’t know how long this will work, so if you see patterns you like I’d get them now!

Connecting Threads, a fabric company you should check out if you haven’t already, has a great variety of projects available, including this cute peppermint pincushion.

Sewing.org has lots of home dec patterns, but one of my favorites is the Personalized Placemats.

Michael Miller is one of my absolute favorite fabric companies, and they don’t disappoint on the patterns either.  They have lots of quilts, with a variety of skill levels.  Many of these look more complicated than they are due to the effective use of printed fabric.

Moda Bake Shop.  All I have to say is, if you’ve never visited this site before be prepared to lose some time.

Robert Kaufmann is another designer that usually catches my attention when I’m fabric shopping.  They offer a large selection of quilt patterns, with a few accessories and home dec projects thrown in, like this sleeping bag tote.

If you’re looking for quilt patterns, Riley Blake Designs has you covered.

If purses and bags are your thing, check out this extensive collection of patterns from Purse Patterns.

Fat Quarter Shop not only has several quilt patterns of their own, but links to patterns from many fabric designers.

Sew4Home has so many patterns I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen them all and their use of bold, bright colors never lets me down.

With that many free patterns, if you have a fabric stash somewhere I think your last excuse just flew out the window.  Time to make something!
