I first made this turkey when I was in early grade school.  I’ve slept many times since then, and the turkey is long gone, but this version is what I remember.  It would probably be quite a surprise to see what it actually looked like back then.

This one is easy for the kiddos and would make cute place cards for dinner.  You can print out the pattern here.  Either have the kids color the pieces or trace them onto construction paper or patterned scrapbook paper.  It does hold it’s shape better if you use something heavier, like cardstock or construction paper.

You will be able to see some of the back of the turkey body, so if you’re using single-sided paper you’ll see some white.  If that bothers you, color it or print a design on the back.  I guess it bothered me. 

Cut out the tail pieces, leaving the slits uncut.  After you’ve cut out all three, stack them together, lining up the slit lines and cut them all at once.

Cut around the outside of the turkey body.  Fold it in half to cut the area around the front of the neck.  Cut slits in the back.

Unfold the turkey enough so you can line up the slits on the body and the tail pieces.  Slide them together and adjust so the turkey stands straight.  The turkey body will probably end up having a slight curve on each side toward the tail.
